Dear Classmates and NOKs of the Class of 1963:
2026 is apparently the time to party! America turns 250. Colorado turns 150. The
Colorado Springs Philharmonic turns 100. Apple turns 50. And our class is going to
celebrate the 63rd anniversary of our graduation on June 5, 1963!
The reunion dates are set: June 3rd to June 5th. The headquarters for the event is the
new Hotel Polaris, just outside the north gate entrance to the Academy. The schedule
will be very similar to our 60th reunion three years ago, with the cup turning ceremony
(CTC) to be held on Thursday, June 4th, at 1400 hrs in the hotel. The complete
schedule can be found on a link on the registration page. That page also contains a link
to make hotel reservations. The negotiated reunion price is $281 per night, plus tax.
While this is a bit expensive, we think you will appreciate a stay in this important and
historic addition to the Academy grounds. There are also several good hotel options
close by.
We encourage attendance of everyone who can make it, because this will probably be
the last CTC where we bring out the cups of all previously deceased classmates along
with the cups of those we are honoring on June 4th. This event will be live streamed by
the AOG, as will all future CTCs. For our 65th reunion we envision a low-elevation
gathering at a destination location like San Antonio. Then, the next important gathering
will be at the Academy for our 70th reunion in 2033.
For this year’s reunion we are planning plenty of time to just visit (and rest). The new
Hosmer Visitor Center (adjacent to the hotel) is supposed to open in May. There will be
a night for squadrons to gather after the CTC. On Friday morning you will have a
chance to visit the new AOG headquarters in Wecker Hall (for those who don’t know,
Wecker Hall is named for our classmate Bill Wecker and his late wife Mary Linn).
Beside Wecker Hall (literally) are many improvements to the Heritage Trail, and we will
have a light lunch in Doolittle Hall where we will learn about its restoration. The banquet
on Friday night will include the long-awaited toast at 1963 hrs.
All in all, it will be a fine time to remember and celebrate. So, we hope that you can join
us in June. Click on the link below to register and reserve rooms.
Sincerely,
